Yesterday was my 11th year bat-anni, which means I've been on here for roughly 12 years.
I don't regret most of it. VR led me to the most wholesome and healthy relationship. It led me to my best friend, who I utterly adore. It helped keep me warm at night and connected in times where I really needed that connection.
The fires here are so bad.
Every day is a day blanketed in thick smoke, lungs burning, eyes watering.
I keep telling myself I'm "lucky" because I am "only" 30 minutes drive from the closest fire. Gah.
It's going to take weeks to extinguish them, or for them to burn out. There's simply not enough people or resources to put them all out.
There's fire up almost all of the eastern side, along the south and west. It's just... everywhere. Around and in major cities, ripping through tiny towns, burning sub-tropical rainforests that are the only proof of The Big Scrub that's left. So many animals dying. Whole koala sanctuaries, 350 in a single day- gone.
